Easter is my favorite holiday, next to Christmas!  It’ s celebrating our savior’s sacrifice to give new life to all of us!  What a blessing.  How appropriate that we celebrate his resurrection and gift of life to us in spring since spring is all about new life and new beginnings.

I don’t have a lot of time to post because I want to get out and enjoy the beautiful spring weather with my kiddos on this wonderful Good Friday but I just wanted to pop by and wish you all a Happy Good Friday & Happy Easter and show you a couple of cute crafts my kiddos have made for Easter.  Maybe your kiddos will enjoy them too!

The adorable little egg bunting that my youngest daughter made was her very first sewing project which she had a lot of fun doing…

It hangs in our big dinning room window as shown above, but we also used it in a little mini Easter photo session…

Besides the Easter egg bunting, my girls made these cute little toilet paper roll bunnies with my mom last weekend and it sounds like they really had fun doing this.

Not sure where my mom got the idea probably Pinterest since I was able to find it on there.  The image I found didn’t link to a  tutorial but there is an image here, if you’d like to check it out.

Yesterday the girls and I (my son still wasn’t feeling up to par) made these super easy and cute scrapbook paper eggs…

They are so sweet and you adorable and super easy!  You will find the tutorial here at Craft And Creativity one of my new favorite blogs for finding crafts to do with my kids!  Be sure to check it out, they have lots of brightly colored Easter crafts!

Okay, time to get outdoors with my kids.  Wishing you all a very Happy Good Friday, A Blessed Easter and lots of sweet treats!

Welcome to another week of WIWW.  I have a whole whopping three outfits for you this week.  I told you that I intended to spend my extended weekend in my pajamas.  In my defense I did get out of them for my work out on Friday and Saturday.  But than I showered quick and got right back into them:-)  In spite of my boy not feeling completely himself because of his tonsil/adenoidectomy it was a really nice 3.5 days of laziness and snuggles!

Don’t forget to vote/comment for your favorite outfit for this week and check out last weeks favorite!

First Day Of Spring!!!  It was only 30° here on the first day of spring but I wasn’t going to let that talk me out of some spring time attire!

Cardi wrap, Jeggings (similar) & Earrings – Maurices

Blouse – Forever 21

Flats – Old Navy

If I look tired in these pictures it’s because I was up at 4:15 a.m.  These pictures weren’t taken too long after that as I hurriedly put on my make-up and threw my hair up in a messy bun to head out for my sons surgery.

Cardi Sweater – Francesca’s

Polka Dot Tank & Jeggings (similar) – Maurices

Boots – Charlotte Russe

Boot Socks – Kohl’s

Belt – C/O Old Navy – Eau Claire, WI

There’s a whole lot of sparkle going on here and I kind of love it!  On Monday I decided to ignore the fact that winter is still lingering long past its scheduled departure date and just enjoy it while it’s here.  So I put on my snowy white glittery sweater and infinity scarf, painted my nails a snowy sparkly white and topped it off (or bottomed it off) with my sparkly shoes.  I only wish you could see the sparkles in the sweater and infinity scarf in these pictures.  I love them!  I think I can count on one finger how many times I’ve worn this sweater without these sparkly shoes:-)

Sweater – Old Navy

Jeans & Infinity Scarf – Maurices

Heels – So old that I can never remember if I got them at JCPenny’s or Younkers

Thanks for Stopping by!

Welcome to another week of What I Wore Wednesday!  I didn’t realize that I hadn’t caught many of my outfits this week.  And I’m surprised I didn’t capture a couple of them because I was trying some new mixing of patterns out a lot this week.  I’m trying to see what I can get away with before my husband thinks I’ve gone crazy, haha.

Just a heads up that this will be the last post for this week and I may not be on next week either because my son has his tonsils removed tomorrow morning and I’m not sure how he’ll be feeling.  He may be needing a lot of extra snuggles and attention.  I confess that I’m hoping to spend Thursday afternoon, when we’re home from his surgery, through Sunday in my pajamas!!!

Don’t forget that on last weeks WIWW I started having you vote on what your favorite outfit of the week was.  This is something new I’m doing and I will pin the winner to Life Exquisite’s Pinterest Account and link the results the following Wednesday on WIWW.  A few of you participated in this last week and it was fun to see what your favorites were.  I had to have my family help with last weeks winner because it was a tie.  If you’re curious as to what last weeks winner is check it out here!  Please vote again this week in the comments section.

If my vote counts for anything #1 is easily my favorite this week!

When I was going through old posts to put on to Life Exquisite’s Pinterest Page I came across this outfit and realized that haven’t worn it since then.  Definitely time for a do over!

Blazer, Cami, Skinnies (similar) – Maurices

Dragonfly Tank & Boots – Charlotte Russe

Necklace – Claire’s

Earrings – C/O Old Navy – Eau Claire, WI

Are you ever browsing Pinterest and see an outfit on their and think, “I can totally do that outfit, I have everything for it!”?  This was one of those outfits.  I was casually looking over Pinterest’s Women’s Fashion category, coveting pretty much every outfit I saw there, like usual, when I saw this outfit.  The only thing I didn’t have to pull off the entire outfit was the mint belt.  I should probably buy one of those.  I had the nude flats but my feet weren’t in the mood for feeling snow upon them so I opted for my black knee highs.

BTW, this is also the only green I wore on Sunday for St. Patrick’s day as confessed here.  And I’m sorry the pictures are so blurry:-(

Tee & Jeans (similar)- Maurices

Boots – Charlotte Russe

Bracelets – Forever 21

Necklace – Urban Peach Boutique

This is the newest outfit C/O Old Navy – Eau Claire, WI and it was the perfectly soft colored spring outfit that I donned as I tried to ignore Mother Nature’s inability to move past winter.  More photos of it are featured here along with my inner fear that winter just may last forever:-(

Hoody, Tank (similar), SkinniesBelt, Necklace, Earrings & Flats –

C/O Old Navy – Eau Claire, WI

This is one of those outfits where I’m mixing prints.  It’s quite different from mixing plaids and stripes, or stripes and polka dots, I’m really not sure if I like it yet.  But I was longing to wear bright colors and this was bright colors and warm enough for a chilly day.

That stylish little diva beside me just had to wear my clothes yesterday.  She looked so adorably, funny and cute at the same time!

Cardi Sweater & Jeans (similar) – Maurices

Plaid Shirt – JCPenny

Flats – The Children’s Place

Scarf – Old Navy

Head wrap – Claire’s

Earrings & Wrap Bracelet – Francesca’s

(Entire Outfit C/O Old Navy – Eau Claire, WI  *All items that could be linked have been done so…Tank (similar), SkinniesBelt & Flats)

Spring is on my brain but Mother Nature does not seem to agree with me that it’s time to turn the seasons.  No, in fact, she protested against this spring casual outfit by sending an additional 5″ of snow yesterday!  The nerve!

Seriously, I’m starting to feel like I did at the end of my pregnancies.  All of you who have been there no what I’m talking about it’s that feeling, that fear, that you might just end up to be the only woman in history to ever have a never ending pregnancy.  This same fear is beginning to sound in my mind, What if winter never ends?!

My youngest daughter and I decided to fight back against this never ending winter by giving ourselves a spring time mani and pedi this morning in honor of it being officially spring tomorrow!

Hope you all had a great St. Patrick’s Day!!!

Quite honestly, I am not true to the 2% of Irish blood that courses through my veins (not sure if it’s even that much, though it could be more).  I do not go all out for St. Patrick’s Day. I’m not sure you could say I even go a little out.  I don’t wear green every year on this lucky day.  Nor remember to put my kids in green.  I do usually give my kids Lucky Charms for breakfast on St. Patrick’s day and make them a shamrock shaped sandwich…that counts for something, right?

This year was no different…none of us wore green yesterday.  Except that I happened to wear this mint green necklace…not purposefully.

The rest of my family may have been pinched but luckily I had this baby on:-)

In my defense one of the reasons I didn’t do anything special yesterday was because I had made up some special things for my kids to have for lunch…but we didn’t have lunch at home yesterday.  I was at a friends baby sprinkling (A baby shower but less extravagant since it’s her second baby…thus a sprinkling!) and my husband and kids ate at my brother-in-laws since my sister was with me at the sprinkling.

Since our St. Patrick’s Day was full with church and other activities I decided to save our celebrating for today and this is our way of celebrating the luck of the irish, four leaf clovers, rainbows and leprechauns (Yes, I know that’s not the real meaning behind St. Patrick’s Day, but to my kids it is, haha)…

Along with a little note, their little hearts will be surprised as they open their lunches to find a gold and rainbow treat (Inspired by Pinterest, though admittedly my ziplock bags aren’t nearly as cool as there’s.  I’m not winning coolest mom on this one.)  they also have the usual shamrock sandwich, some “gold” fish crackers, green apple juice (the color is green, not the flavor), and rainbow jello.

We also had the usual breakfast of sugar loaded Lucky Charms!!!  I think I like this stuff just as much as my kids if not more!  This year I filled my old milk bottle up with green milk!  (Also inspired by Pinterest.)  I think I got a best mom award for the green milk.  My son found it especially awesome!

What special things did you do to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

Did you where green or are you full of bruises from all the pinches you received yesterday?

As promised on Tuesday, when I showed you my Easter decorations, I’m going to show you how I made my Spring, Spring, Spring banner!!!

I always love banners when I see them on Pinterest and decided it was time to make one of my own.  Whenever I think of spring I think of the Spring song from Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and I wanted my banner to be happy like that song is, yet fit in with my primitive/country decor.  Which means, in this tutorial you will learn my method of aging paper.  I’m sure there are other ways but this is how I’ve done it for years and it’s very simple and fast.

What you’ll need:

White card stock with the words Spring on it (See step 1)

A spray bottle with water in it.

Instant coffee grounds

Scrapbook or some other decorative paper

Decorative scrapbooking scissors

Hole punch

Medium sized safety pin

1)On card stock print out the word SPRING three times in letters that measure about 2 1/4 inches tall.  I used  Word, Cambria font, size 150.  Be sure to have them spaced apart to allow room for cutting.

2)After they are printed out allow ink to dry for about 10 minutes.  Then lay on plastic or a well protected surface.

(In this picture and the next, ignore the bottom right printout.  I opted not to use that in my Easter decorations.)

3)  Here’s where you’ll start the aging affect on your paper.  With water bottle on a mist spray, lightly spray each paper evenly and sprinkle with instant coffee grounds.

4)  Using your finger tips, gently rub the coffee ground around the paper until you achieve a nice golden effect…

5)  Allow your papers to dry completely.

6)  When papers are dry, use a decorative scrapbook scissors to cut a pretty edge around each letter…

noname copy 4

7)  Glue these onto scrapbook sheets or other decorative paper.  Thicker paper/scrapbook sheets work best for banners.  Be sure to leave about a 1-2 inch space between each letter as you glue them down so that you’ll have room for a nice thick border around each letter.  I didn’t measure, completely free handed so my borders aren’t all “exactly” the same.  Close enough:-)

8)  After the glue has dried and letters are secure to scrapbook paper use a decorative scissor (I used the same scissor for both the letters and the border piece, but feel free to use a different one if you’d like.) to cut a 1/2 – 3/4 inch border around each letter.  Then punch a hole in each upper corner…

9)  After you have punched holes in all your cards unwind a long piece of ribbon, but do not cut it off the spool yet in case you wish to lengthen or shorten your banner.

10)  Now you will need your safety pin.  Attach your safety pin to the open end of the ribbon.  By using a safety pin you wont have to worry about trying to get an unraveled ribbon through each hole.  The safety pin makes this easy! Slip the pin through one of your holes from the front side of your card.  I was working backwards with my words so had to put the pin through the right hole first, from the top side of the card.  Do not put it through the bottom or the ribbon will show across the front of your letter.  You want it behind.

11)  You will bring the pin back up through the backside of the second hole now.  And your ribbon is hidden behind the card!

12)  Continue adding all of your letters, in the correct order.  After they are on you can play with spacing and arrange them as you desire.  After everything is spaced and in its desired place cut the ribbon.

13)  Now it’s time to hang your banner!  After it’s hung you may want to move the letters around a little more.

14)  Stand back and enjoy your beautiful artwork!!!

Happy Spring!

Another week of What I Wore Wednesday Is Here!!!  My desire for spring clothing has grown even more over the past week and unfortunately we just keep getting more snow and cold weather.  The weatherman keeps telling me that it’s going to be in the 40’s but his promises are broken daily as that has been pushed so far back it’s not even in the 10 day forecast…sigh.  Why is it that in the fall it can’t get cool fast enough and in the  spring it can’t get warm fast enough?

Oh well, at least I know this weather can’t last forever.  On with WIWW!

This outfit proves that march came in like a lion…I’m wearing three long sleeves here; a chevron shirt, a sweater and a blazer!

Blazer (similar) – Maurices

Chevron Top & Skinnies – C/O Old Navy – Eau-Claire, WI

Sweater – JCPenny’s

Boots – Charlotte Russe

Necklace – Urban Peach Boutique

On Thursday I looked at my peacock earrings and thought, “I haven’t worn those for a long time.  I think they need to be worn.”  And from that thought this outfit was born!  I also wore gold, blue and teal makeup as shown in the bottom picture!

The two photos of the back of my hair lead me to a confession…I have come to love extensions!  My beautician has been trying to talk me into them for a couple of years and I finally bought them shortly before Christmas and use them anytime I’m leaving my house.  My hair is just so thin, especially for how long I’m currently wearing it and I needed something to add some volume to it.  The left picture is without the extensions and the right is after I’ve put the extensions in.  As you can see my actual hair is slightly longer than the extensions, which means I need longer extensions or a trim.  Probably a trim.  Truly I love how much thicker my hair is with these things!  K…confession over now go by some extensions, you’ll love them too!

Blazer, Long Sleeved Tee, Shoes, & Necklace – Maurices

Bracelet & Earrings – Claire’s

Extensions – Sally Beauty Supply

On Friday we had a touch of spring weather as the temps were in the low 40’s for the day!  I took advantage of the opportunity and wore my new orange blouse that has been sitting in my closet for over a month!  Love the peachy orange hue of this shirt and the blue polka dots!  You know me…I LOVE polka dots!

I also posted a couple photos of my hair this day because every time I wear it like this I get a lot of comments like this and people wondering how I do it.  Friday, was no different as a group of high school girls stopped me to ask how I do it.  Yeah, this 31 year old stil has it:-)  If you like it, be sure to like this post.  If I get 10 likes on this post I’ll do a little tutorial for you all next week!  Like away!!!

Blazer – Old Navy

Blouse – Francesca’s

Denim Trousers – Maurices

Necklace & Earrings – Forever 21

Flats – The Children’s Place

My need for bright colored clothes made it difficult to ignore wearing this new cardi sweater that’s been sitting in my closet for a few weeks.  I thought of wearing heels but since I had to go out in the elements and had a day of shopping ahead of me I opted for my boots with the orange zipper to go with the orange in my cardi.

Yesterday, brought on more snow and cold.  I know boo-hoo, poor little Wisconsin girl.  In all honesty I really don’t mind it that much.  I prefer cold to heat, so I’ll take it while it lasts.  But I do love spring and fall temps best so that is why I’m doing a lot of spring time whining.  Bear with me for the next few weeks, please:-)

I started a  Pinterest board for Life Exquisite so be sure to follow me there.  I will be using it to post my recipes, home decor, birthday parties, favorite outfits, etc.  Basically my favorites from LE will be featured there.  Right now LE’s Pinterest page is pretty blank, although I did pin some things so that it wouldn’t be empty when I posted it.  I do plan on having more than just LE’s things there, like DIY projects I’d like to make someday, recipes or cute outfits I wish I had, but I don’t have that up yet.  Sorry.

I also thought it might be fun to have you, my readers, vote on what your favorite outfit is from each WIWW post.  And the winner will get pinned to my Exquisite Outfits board!

That means you can start voting today and the rest of this week.  Next week I’ll pin what you voted as your favorite!  So comment away and enjoy peaking at Life Exquisite’s Pinterest board!

Don’t forget to stop by the Pleated Poppy and check out
