I’ve really been missing blogging and having something to do outside of homeschooling and being a mom so guess what…

I’m BACK!!!

Time for more outfits, crafts, recipes, photos and family fun!

First “I’m Back” post has to be an outfit one because I know that’s what you all liked the most!

(Skinnies & Earrings – Old Navy, Cardi – Maurices, Blouse & Scarf – Francescas, Boots – Charlotte Russe)

You may notice a little difference in me since my last outfit post about a year ago!  I chopped my hair!  Yep…18+ inches off last November!  Let’s see…what else is new with me?

My middle daughter has joined my son and four-year-old daughter in homeschooling with us this year!  WOW is homeschooling three kids different than homeschooling one and a little helper!  My oldest is still in public school, she loves her friends too much to stay home with us crazies!

We also got a puppy for Christmas!  It was a surprise and the kids LOVE our little lemon beagle, Golden Girl!  The first image is the night we brought her home to surprise our kids with their Christmas gift!  The second is of last weekend of my youngest wrapping G.G. up against the cold!

Another fun, and very new thing…a little over a month ago I became an Independent Consultant for Jamberry!  My current Jamicure is featured in the third photo post above!  I fell in love with their wraps and now I’m LOVING getting paid to wear them!  The wraps I’m wearing currently are…

Harvest Blooms

and

Icy Boysenberry Polka

If you’ve never heard of Jamberry go check out my Jamberry website @http://www.kalsjams.jamberrynails.net/ or click on the link at the top of the side bar!  If you have heard of them…well you still gotta take a look!  I’d love to help you out on choosing wraps or even add you to my Jamberry team!

Oh and guess what?  You can friend me on Facebook and join my private Jamberry FB group where we do fun giveaways!  In fact today I’m giving away some FREE samples!

Awe…It feels good to be back! Not really sure why I let Life Exquisite fade out…oh yeah, I’m a busy mom!  But my goal is to post at least one outfit post a week…and maybe some more!  So stay tuned!

Okay, okay I know I’ve been horrible about posting but seriously it’s been crazy busy.  I know, I know there are a lot of other bloggers out there who are crazy busy too, but I guess I’m just a slacker, haha:-)

A lot has happened since last I posted, A LOT, and it’s left me wondering about Life Exquisite and its future and where its going to go.  Not to mention, my own future and that of my families…but before I get to far ahead of myself lets start from here…

Summer has ended and the kids started back up with school on September 3rd…

Gabrielle and Miranda are still in public school…

…but as I mentioned at the end of the school year last year Pierce has decided to homeschool and Elizabeth is starting preschool from home!

Even though homeschooling keeps me busier and my house a bit more messy then I’d like I’m loving having my boy at home with me.  I wish the girls were here every day too, though I think I may go crazy teaching them all, haha.  But, maybe someday, they do seem to be a bit jealous of all the fun things we do:-)

Even though I haven’t been posting I have managed to get pictures of some of my outfits.  And since you saw what my kids wore on their first day of school I’ll show you what I wore too…

I start with my hair down each day but by mid day when I’m doing craft/art time with my kids or running around outside for our “recess” I end up tossing my hair up in a messy bun.  Luckily my hubby is commuting now and doesn’t have to see me in my messy bun on a daily basis.

Say what?  My husbands commuting?!

Yep, that’s the change in the wind I mentioned in the title.  My husband has taken a new job in Minnesota and it wont be too much longer before the kids and I, still wearing our cheeseheads of course, head to The Land Of A Thousand Lakes to join him.  Our goal is the beginning of November before Mother Nature sends her beautiful blanket of snow to make driving and moving conditions less than enjoyable.

So it is not just homeschooling and keeping house that has kept me from posting but also I’ve begun to clear out stuff we don’t want to bring with us and pack things away we don’t need for now.  It’s all kept me very busy thus keeping me away.  It’s also left me wondering just what I’ll do with Life Exquisite in the future.  My hopes are to keep it going but it has gotten very busy, moving/packing aside, and I keep thinking with all this newness my family may need as much of me as possible and distractions, even a small one like a blog, may be too much for now.

I have thought of turning it into more of a personal blog for my family and friends to keep up with the goings on of our new life in MN but they can easily do that through FB also.

I’m really not sue yet, so stay tuned.  Who knows what will happen.  For now I’m excited to share with you our fun things we did for homeschool today on this beautiful fall day which also happens to be…

Johnny Appleseed Day!!!

We kicked off our school morning with an apple hunt!  I don’t have any apple trees so I hid some apples in and around our willow tree for my youngers to find!

Then we headed inside to make apple butter from out harvest!  They helped with the whole process from cutting the apples (with butter knives), to adding the sugars and spices and then stirring it all together in the crockpot!  It was my sons idea to wear pots on their heads like Johnny Appleseed did:-)

All this morning our curriculum was Johnny Appleseed themed with ideas I got from Pinterest like

this and this.  I also got a couple apple themed curriculums from teacherspayteachers.com like this and this.

Here’s how our Johnny Appleseed Craft turned out (We combined this with this, because I liked them having their names on the pot.)…

I even made them an apple themed lunch!  I was planning to just serve them apple slices and apple juice with sandwiches but when my daughter requested pancakes for lunch I couldn’t resist making these!

And before nap and rest time we concluded our Johnny Appleseed unit watching a movie my teachers showed me every year in elementary school and I loved watching it every year!

(Click image to bring you to youtube video.)

So much is happening, the kids miss their dad, I miss my hubby, but luckily we get to see him on the weekends still!  All in it’s been busy but fun.  And today, Johnny Appleseed Day, was super fun!!!

(Maxi Skirt – Maurices, Dragonfly Tank – Charlotte Russe, Necklace – Claire’s)

This tank has been one of my favorites for a couple of years now and, yes, you’ve seen it featured before…

You’re okay with seeing it again, though, right?  I hope so because I’m not going to promise it’s the last.  I like it too much!

I’ll confess that as much as I love my dragonfly tank and maxi skirts I am getting ready for some fall layers.  So glad fall is just around the corner!

And, as promised, it’s time to announce the winner of last weeks bracelet giveaway…

Congratulations to Tammy Ackerson!  Email me your address and I’ll get it sent to you right away!

And thank you, Old Navy – Eau Claire, for sponsoring this great giveaway!

(TeeShorts, Earrings & Bracelet C/O –Old Navy – Eau Claire, WI, Shoes – (old) JcPenney)

Okay, while I said I was going to be more relaxed about posting this summer I really didn’t think it would be over two weeks since my last post and almost a month since my last outfit post.  Shame on me!  In my defense, if I’m allowed to plead my case, I had a busy, but super fun week in Wisconsin Dells with my family, then I had a busy week getting ready for homeschooling…well, I’m still doing that…

And then I really should have done an outfit post the last week and a half but my vanity got the best of me because I had the biggest ever cold sore (at least the biggest I’ve ever seen) right in the middle of my bottom lip!!  Even if I had wanted to be photographed I’m pretty sure the camera’s lens would have cracked had I even tried to take pictures with that hideous thing swelling up my bottom lip making me look like Professor Klump!

That being said…you can see I am cold sore free now and sportin’ a new outfit courtesy of Old Navy!  I love this shirt!  LOVE IT!  It’s made me think about my life and I have to say I am pretty much living my dream life.  Maybe not “the dream life” but my dream life.

When I was little there were four things I wanted to do with my life…become a country music star, fly with an umbrella like Mary Poppins, become a wife, and be a mom!  I think it’s too late to become a country music star and I tried flying like Mary Poppins and much to my disappointment it didn’t work (True story, ask my dad.)  But I am a wife to the most wonderful man and a mom to four beautiful kids.

Yep, I am livin’ the dream!!!

Guess what!  I just might be able to help you live your dream too!  At least a little tiny smidge of it:-)

(Blouse – Francesca’s, Skinnies – Old Navy – Eau Claire, Earrings – Claire’sNecklace & Chevron Bangles – Urban Peach Boutique, Shoes – Gift)

Sorry I’ve been absent this week, I’ve been off in Minnesota having fun with my kids at my grandpa and grandma’s!  While I was out we had such a great week going to Como Zoo & The Children’s Museum, visiting local parks and other fun outings.  We ate lots of good food and best of all we were able to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma!  It was a super, super fun week!

But I am back home to computer and internet and I have one of my favorite outfits of the summer to share with you!  The blouse is definitely my favorite this year, it’s been worn many, many times and on most slightly cool days that have called for a pair of jeans I have worn this very outfit!  It’s bright and fun and I LOVE it!

Yes, the title of this post is a mouthful, but I have no idea what else to call this shirt.  As I promised I’m delivering a tutorial on how to make the shirt from the outfit I posted on Wednesday.  So for all of you who liked up this post both here at WordPress and on Facebook here’s how to make this shirt…

Step 1 –

Take a basic tee that fits you at least two sizes larger than your normal size.

Step 2 –

Fold it in half with side seams touching each other.  I then laid a low rise shirt on top to help get the cut I wanted…

Step 3 –

…then cut from front to back.  I followed my shirts line but if you don’t have a shirt to follow just be sure to start high in the front and work your way low in the back.  I actually made my new tee slightly longer in the back than the striped shirt on top is.  Start long, because you can always go shorter.  Once you have your length determined you are done!  No sewing involved!  LOVE it!

Step 4 –

Now to work on the sleeves.  Cut off the sleeve hem just along the inside of the stitching.  Next cut up the top side of your sleeve, all the way up to where the sleeve meets the body.

Step 5 –

Cut the bottom seam of the sleeve off at an angle to blend nicely with the rest of the sleeve.

Step 6 –

Take the two top part sections of the sleeve that have been cut up to the body (sections shown in step 4) and loosely tie 2 times. Be sure not to tie it tight to body.  You want to leave the hole, because it adds chic cuteness!  Repeat steps 4-6 on the second sleeve.

And voila, you’ve just done about 5-10 minutes of easy work for a super cute tee!

I hope I’ve explained it well but if you have any questions ask away:-)

(Tee – Revamped by Me, Tank similar – C/O Old Navy – Eau Claire, Shorts – American Eagle, Sandals – Maurices, Earrings – Charlotte RusseNecklace – Urban Peach Boutique)

It’s been extremely hot here.  Well maybe not so hot but extremely muggy and on Monday it left me wanting to wear something loose, baggy and comfy that wasn’t too dressy.  I have loose and baggy shirts but most of them are silky, blousey type shirts, which are my fave, but on Monday, I wanted a cute t-shirt that was loose and baggy yet still chic.

Looking around and feeling discontent with what I saw in my closet I decided to just make something myself!  I took an old t-shirt that has been siting in a bag in my closet for quite a while and was still wearing its tags.  Yep, it’s never been worn.  The reason it’s never been worn is because I bought it in a large because at the time I bought it I thought it would be really comfy to have this huge oversized t-shirt for camping, but even for camping I am just not a t-shirt kind of gal.  I like even my basic tees to have some design and cuteness.  Yeah, I’m a bit silly that way.  Call me crazy!

Any-who… It sat in my closet unworn until I had this wonderful epiphany on Monday to turn it into this cute little shirt with a slightly cropped front and extended back!  I also love the tied sleeves, though I’ll admit that is not my own idea.  However, I still feel I get bragging rights for this idea as a whole and can’t wait to pair it with my black maxi skirt.  Maybe I’ll do that for church on Sunday!

I’m thinking of blogging a tutorial on how to make this shirt.  If you are interested in learning how all you have to do is like this post. 5 likes and you’ll get a tutorial on Friday!!!

I happen to have bought a second large tee in turquoise at the same time and am pretty sure I’ll be making that an extended back cropped tee also!
